Monster Lab is a public engagement project to introduce schoolchildren to concepts of genomics and DNA sequencing. Participants build a DNA sequence from Lego blocks, and sequence them with a computer that converts the coloured blocks to a DNA sequence. Participants use a gene sheet that describes how each base affects how their monster looks to draw a monster for the Monster Lab directory.
